Background:

Second City Prints (SCP) is a designer and manufacture of band merchandise, such as t-shirts, hoodies, stickers and key chains).  When the company engaged Biz ReTek, SCP had 40 employees, with a plan to quadruple in size over six years.

Challenge Presented:

Second City Prints wanted to outsource all technology design and support in order to allow employees to better focus on their core business, and ensure their IT infrastructure would scale with them without distracting or derailing them from their primary mission.

Biz ReTek reviewed all aspects of technology use at Second City Prints, connecting it directly with the company’s business strategy, needs and best practices. Initiatives undertaken included:

    • Installed corporate LAN (wired, wireless, firewall, ISP)
    • Reviewed and updated business applications (hosted and locally installed) for fit, version, and correct license model
    • Redesigned internally housed virtual environment housing SCP’s core business application, scaling it for the planned future growth
    • Modernized telephony
    • Established a desktop/laptop sunset policy and replacement protocol
    • Updated business processes for AR, AP, file retention and others
    • Updated and scaled file storage system, adding user authentication for 24/7 availability and anticipated user growth

Result:

All technologies were stabilized, documented, and set to best practices.  Biz ReTek managed the SCP environment throughout this process and, at the company’s request, implemented a managed IT program that continues to add value through the company’s ongoing growth.
