Improving Antiquated Systems
Background:
Gill Management is a Burger King franchisee with eight restaurants, a corporate office, and a staff of three. When they engaged Biz ReTek, their technology was more than eight years old, with poor system performance, antiquated business processes, and no automation.
Challenge Presented:
Gill Management needed to update their existing systems in order to run more efficiently and expedite system backups. Automation was needed to improve productivity where manual processes were burdening staff upwards of 15 to 20 hours per week.
BRT Solution:
Biz ReTek reviewed all aspects of technology use at Gill Management, connecting it directly with the company’s business strategy, needs and best practices. Initiatives undertaken included
- Installed corporate LAN (wired, wireless, firewall, ISP)
- Modernized business applications (hosted and locally installed) for fit, version, and correct license model
- Replaced server and desktops with business appropriate and budgeted devices
- Implemented automated backup systems with alerting.
- Enhanced manual reporting to an automated process saving in excess of 10 hrs/week
- Updated business processes for AR, AP, file retention and others
- Updated and scaled file storage system, adding user authentication for 24/7 availability and enabling remote access
Result:
All technologies were stabilized, documented, and set to best practices. Biz ReTek managed the client environment throughout this process and, at Gill Management’s request, implemented a managed IT program that continues to add value through the company’s ongoing growth.
